If your skin is anything like mine (normal to oily), then you know the warmer weather usually means looking extra glowy, but as I would say- extra oily. During this time of the year my biggest skincare issue is trying keeping my oils to a minimum. Those with oily skin textures know there's a thin line between glowy skin and oily skin. I must admit in the past I was really rough on my skin trying almost everything to help combat the oils. Little did I know that by depriving my skin from hydration I was actually creating more oil!

Laneige is a South Korean cosmetic brand owned by Amore Pacific. Laneige was created by Amore Pacific in 1994. The Laneige Mini Pore Waterclay mask is marketed as a clarifying mask that removes pore clogging oils, clearing impurities and helps to reduce the size of pores. As someone with a skin texture that gets oily and has large pores, the water clay mask has been my savior!

Review

I tend to use the Laneige Waterclay mask after showering while my pores are still open. The texture of the mask resembles a smooth gel like texture; allowing the mask to be applied seamlessly. After the mask Is applied to the skin it drys pretty quickly (about 25-30 minutes). Once the mask drys it feels tight on the skin, but not to the point that it becomes uncomfortable. The sponge that comes with the mask allows for easy removal .

I like that the Laneige Waterclay mask helps to remove oils and diminish the size of my pores. But at the same time it doesn't leave my skin looking or feeling dehydrated!!! Most clay masks drastically dry out the skin. In the past I've used the Aztec Secret Healing Clay Mask. That mask can be pretty harsh and over drying. Whereas the Laneige Water Clay Mask leaves my skin looking and feeling refreshed. Since the mask is effective and more on the gentle side, I can easily see how and why it's suitable for all skin types.

As the Laneige Waterclay mask is a mud mask that is aimed to remove excess oils, I would highly suggest following up with a gentle toner after use. A toner that contains harsh exfoliating ingredients (aha, bha, salicylic acid) may further dry out the skin creating an unbalanced pH; thus creating more oils. After my toner, I usually use one of my favorite oils or heavier moisturizers (my favorite summer moisturizer) to further rehydrate my skin.

Have you tried the Laneige water clay mask or any other products from the brand? If so, please comment below.

I mentioned on my instagram that I like to mask 3-4 times a week. At least 1-2 days I like to do a clay mask. If you're interested in seeing my other mask choices and why I use them, please comment below.
