Review: First Aid Beauty Coconut Water Cream

First Aid Beauty is a brand that is really new to me. My basic knowledge of them is that their products work well for those who have sensitive skin. They sell skincare (facial + body) and make-up items and have recently celebrated 10 years of being in the skincare community. I was recently gifted a kit from the brand that included some of their most popular items. One product in particular that stood out to me was The Coconut Water Cream. If you’re interested in finding out more about this cream, please keep reading!

Ingredients and Breakdown

Key ingredients

Coconut Water- electrolytes, amino acids, enzymes, antioxidants and phytonutrients that helps hydrate and replenish skin.

Sodium Hyaluronate- hyaluronic acid

Alteromonas Ferment Filtrate: is a plant extract found in deep areas of seawater and has water binding properties. It’s known for being soothing to the skin.

Antioxidants- Licorice Root, Feverfew and White Tea extracts

Ingredients: Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Fruit Juice, Glucose, Maltodextrin, Aqua (Water, Eau), Dimethicone, Cyclopentasiloxane, Sodium Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Cocos Nu-cifera (Coconut) Fruit Extract, Alteromonas Ferment Filtrate, Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Extract, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Fruit Extract, Vanilla Planifolia Fruit Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Sea Salt (Maris Sal, Sal Marin), Lycium Barbarum Fruit Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Chrysanthemum Parthenium (Feverfew) Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Dip-teryx Odorata Seed Extract, Coffea Arabica (Coffee) Seed Extract, Caprylyl Glycol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Butylene Glycol, Hydrogenated Polydecene, Dimethicone Cross-polymer, Dipropylene Glycol, Cetyl Diglyceryl Tris(Trimethylsiloxy)silylethyl Dimethicone, Phe-noxyethanol, Laureth-8.

Please note: that cream contains Dimethicone. In the past this was an ingredient that I would steer clear of as “cones can clog pores overtime. But I’ve come to realize that it often offers a great blurring effect to use under makeup. I’m okay with Dimethicone being in my morning cream as I double cleanse at night. But this is an ingredient I still would prefer to not be in my night time moisturizer.

Review

I have to admit I was taken by surprise when I initially tried the First Aid Beauty Coconut Water Cream. One of my friends, who has a skin type that is more on the dry skin, tried it and told me she hated it. This statement actually made me want to investigate the cream further to get a better understanding of it. The texture is like most conventional water creams/gel formulas. The scent of the cream smells heavily like coconut, so if you don’t like the scent of coconut, you probably won’t like this. I actually love the scent of coconut so these two factors already appealed to my initial thoughts of the cream.

I have normal to oily skin. I prefer to only wear gel and water cream texture moisturizers during my morning routine. Throughout the day moisturizer + sunscreen often makes my skin turn into an oil slick. What I liked about the First Aid Beauty Coconut water cream is that it fully absorbed into my skin. Once the cream is fully absorbed the cream gives my face a slight bit of a matte finish, which makes the perfect base to layer my sunscreen on top of it!!! There’s a few sunscreens in my collection that I often thought to be too heavy to use, but once they’re paired with this water cream it makes a great combination.

This is a cream that is made for those with combination- oily skin. If you have dry skin, there’s a good chance you may find this cream to not be moisturizing enough. But for those out there with oily skin textures your skin will definitely enjoy this! I think the price of the cream is reasonable and only a little bit of cream needs to be used at a time.

I know it’s not needed, but I store my cream in my skincare fridge. I love the cooling effect of it in the morning. I know my skin enjoys this cream now during the fall cooler temps; which leads me to believe that I’ll enjoy it just as much and if not more when the weather warms up in the spring. There’s not one beauty product for every single person. With many products you have to play around and really test them out to see how they work for you.

Have you tried this cream or any other products from First Aid Beauty? I’m pretty new to the brand and would like to try out others!
