If you follow my content closely and regularly, including my monthly favorite and empties, you will notice that these are products that I’ve discussed in detail and have used quite frequently in my daily routine.
1. First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Oatmeal Mask
Price: $24 for 2oz
The FAB Oatmeal Mask is not one that I see much about, and I feel like I only see the mask in Marshall’s/Tj Maxx, but it’s one I’ve been continually purchasing for the past several years. The mask is said to provide hydration, repair, and strengthen the skin.
I typically reach for this 1x a week or every other week when my skin needs extra TLC. I also like using it during my Tretinoin night routines when I try to incorporate extra moisture and barrier support ingredients into my routine. Being that the mask is formulated with such great ingredients like Colloidal Oatmeal, Aloe Vera, Ceramides, Shea Butter, Allatonin, and Calendula Extract, I can easily recommend this to all skin types – especially for those that suffer from dry skin that bears more of the sensitive side. If you’re interested in the texture/consistency, the mask is very similar to home cooked oatmeal, hence the name.

2. InnisFree Sunscreen Daily UV Defense Invisible Broad Spectrum SPF 36 Sunscreen
Price: $18 for 1.69oz
As someone with normal to combination skin, it can be difficult to find a sunscreen that doesn’t feel heavy or oily on my skin. I also think of sunscreen has gotten very expensive over the years. I’m happy to say the InnisFree Sunscreen Daily UV Defense Invisible Broad Spectrum SPF 36 checks so many boxes for me!
The Daily UV Defense Invisible Broad Spectrum is formulated with green tea and sunflower seed oil that gives a fresh glow finish without a white cast finish. The sunscreen has somewhat of a runny fluid like consistency that blends into the skin beautifully. Being that the Innisfree Daily UV Defense is a chemical-based sunscreen, I never had to worry about a white-cast when using it. With my skin being a combination of normal to oily, I use this alone without the need to use a moisturizer as a base for my skin. If you’re looking for an affordable sunscreen, I highly recommend giving this one a try!

3. Caudalie Moisturizing Fig Body Oil Elixir
Price: $52 for 3.3oz
The Caudalie Fig Body Oil is a luxurious body oil that deeply moisturizes and softens the skin. It’s formulated with Prickly Pear Oil, Agran Oil, and Grape Seed Oil, which are known to moisturize, nourish and help firm the skin. The best way to use this, along with most body oils, is immediately after showering while the skin is still slightly damp. With the skin being damp it helps for better absorption, and I also think this helps to lock in as much of the Fig scent as possible. The underlying Fig scent, which I love so much, is 100% from natural figs. Unlike other body oils that I’ve tried, I really like this one has a spray application and not a pump. The spray makes it easier and not as messy to dispense. With this size bottle, it typically lasted me several months with frequent usage. I can’t recommend this enough to use on its own or as a base underneath your daily fragrances.

4. Maison MARGIELA REPLICA' From the Garden Eau de Toilette
Price: $85 for 1oz
Key Notes: Tomato Leaf Accord, Green Mandarin Essence, Patchouli Heart
Another scent surprise for this year was the From the Garden Scent from Maison Margiela. I never thought I would be attracted to a scent that contains a strong earthy influence of tomato and a citrus element of green mandarin combined together. I know the fragrance is supposed to be tied to the spring and summer months, but I’ve truly enjoyed wearing throughout the year.
From the Garden invokes the feeling of a sunlit garden with smelling too overly “green” or earthy. Being that I usually don’t gravitate towards fresh earthy scents, this one is very much out of my comfort zone, but I’m happy to have such a unique scent in my collection. Whenever I wear this scent I often get compliments from strangers. It’s the type of compliment that people have walked by me and then came back to tell me how good I smell.
5. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette
Price: $70 for quad
The Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette in Volume III was ordered in June as birthday gift from me to me and it’s one of the best powder palettes that I own. The Ambient palettes are available in three different shade variations. I opted for the Volume III as I feel that all three shades in the palette compliment my skin tone. I use this palette for bronzing, highlighting, and brightening.
The Hourglass powders are some of the best that I’ve used over the years. They are known for being on the softer side that almost gives almost a blurring effect finish. I found the powders to apply lightly but gives off a great color payoff. I love how compact this palette is, and I’ve enjoyed travelling with it throughout the year. If you’re skin tone is similar to mine (a little lighter and deeper), this Volume III would be perfect for you!
6. Saltair Deodorant Serum Deodorant
Price: $14.69
The Saltair Serum Deodorants are one of my favorite discoveries from this year and throughout the year I went through several bottles. The Saltair deodorants are formulated with Mandelic Acid, Lactic & PHA, and Niacinamide to help combat odor, exfoliate, and smooth the skin. I’ve been using natural deodorants for the past 6 years and I’m pretty critical as to which ones I find to work well and pass the summer/workout test. I happy to say that this is one the best formulas that I’ve tried! I’ve tried this deodorant through the thick of summer, which included some very hot and humid days, and I’m happy to say this held up so well.
If you’re new to using a serum deodorant like this contains actives, I would recommend to not applying this to wet skin- especially to skin that’s freshly shaved as it may cause some irritation as the skin is more vulnerable. Also, if your skin is sensitive, this formula may take some time for your body and skin to adjust to. Being that this is serum deodorant, it applies clear and wet to the skin and some dry down is required. The Saltair Deodorant is available in so many different scents, so there’s something available for everyone.

7. Eadem Le Chouchou Exfoliating + Softening Peptide Lip Balm
Price: $24
The Eadem Peptide Lip Balms are described as an intensive lip treatment that combines the exfoliation of a gentle peel, the moisture of a lip mask, and the sheen of a gloss. Each balm is housed in a silver reflective tube packaging. Upon the first glance you’re not able to see the color of the balms and once you remove the cap from the gloss, you’re able to see the cooling metal applicator. I know the company refers to them as lip balms, but I think of them as more of a thicker lip gloss formula. The sheen and color payoff in my opinion are more of a gloss/lip mask, which I love! I also love how buildable the colors are. I love how moisturizing these are and long lasting. When they wear off my lips still feel very soft and smooth. If you’re thinking of purchasing, I would recommend, skipping the clear shade and to purchase one of the tinted shades!
My two favorites are Boba Bounce a rich soft brown shade and Burnt Malai a burnt milky desert rose shade.
Color: Nip (rich walnut brown)
I’ll be completely honest I was intrigued by the Glossier lip liners when I heard they were launching, but it wasn’t something that I felt I needed to run out and buy right away since I already own so many lip liners. During the summer I happen to be in the Glossier store here in NYC and was able to try them out in person. I was amazed how smoothed they applied and how long the swatched stayed on my wrist. The Glossier Lip Liners are described as a water- and transfer-resistant and medium-coverage lip liner. I agree with the claim of it being water and transfer resistant. I think this has to be one of the longest lasting lip liners that I’ve ever tried and that’s in my collection. Due to the lip liner being so long lasting and really liking the rich walnut brown shade of the NIP color, I constantly find myself reaching for it! I know NIP is described as a deep rich brown shade, but I actually find this shade to be a little lighter than a lot of the other brown shades that I own, making it stand out just a little more. If you’re on the hunt for a long lasting lip liner, I highly recommend giving these a try!
9. Phlur Missing Person Fragrance
Price: $99
It says a lot when you see a person purchase all different versions of a fragrance! I tried a sample of the Phlur Missing Person scent and quickly fell in love with it. The scent is said to be delicate, yet addictive, that evokes the lingering scent of your lover’s skin. Missing Person has standout notes of musk, bergamot, neroli blossom, and the mixure of the woody notes.
Scent Notes
Top Notes: Skin Musk, Bergamot Nectar, Sheer Jasmine
Heart Notes: Fresh Cyclamen, Neroli Blossom, Orange Flower
Base Notes: Sandalwood Australia Oil, Blonde Wood, White Musk
I initially purchased the full size of the fragrance in June - July. Within a few weeks I purchased the travel size to use for a trip. About a month later I purchased Body Oil version. Phlur describes the scent as “If nude were a perfume, this is it”. I agree to a certain extent, but I do feel like this has a special element to it that goes beyond being a nude or a plain scent. I think of Missing Person as a skin scent, it smells very similar to the natural scent of your skin with a slight twist. For this scent to be on the lighter side, I feel like it the scent lingers beautifully on my skin. The body oil is one that I particularly love to layer with. I use the Missing Person Body Oil as a base and layer other scent over top. Being that Missing Person layers so well with other scents, I find myself reaching for some form of it (full size, travel size, and the body oil) several times a week.
10. L’oreal True Match Radiant Serum Concealer
Price: $15.99
The L’oreal True Match Radiant Serum Concealer is said to be a light-weight, crease-resistant concealer that helps to provide coverage for dark circles and provide 24-hour hydration. Over the year I’ve been on the hunt to try out more drug store makeup and this L'Oréal concealer is one of the best that I’ve tried. The concealers are available in warm, cool, and natural options, which makes for a better match for different skin undertones.
The True Match Concealer has more of a light to medium level of coverage. The consistency is more of a serum consistency and feels very hydrated under my eyes. I usually have issues with the concealer under my eyes creasing, which is inevitable just based on the anatomy of my eyes. I’m happy to say this concealer actually creases way less than other formulas that I’ve tried. Being that the coverage is more of a light to medium level, I can easily wear on its own for really low effort no makeup makeup looks, and build it up when I want more coverage. The True Match Radiant Serum Concealer has been my go to during the year and I’m hoping to try out more from L’oreal in the upcoming year.
