May'24 Empties

Another month of empties! Last month I finished so many staples in my routine. Out of all of the my empties from the month of May, one of the products that that will be truly be missed is the Olaplex No.4 Shampoo. I go into detail about it within this post along with everything else that I finished during the month of May.

Face Care Empties

Cerave Hydrating Makeup Wipes

Price: $11.99 for 25 wipes

The Cerave Hydrating makeup wipes are said to cleanse the skin, remove makeup, without disrupting the barrier of the skin. The wipes are very thick and feel very soft on the skin. I know most people are against makeup wipes, but I more so use them to remove very stubborn masks, and when my skin needs a light refresh during the day (i.e., after working out, first morning cleanse). I really love that the wipes don’t leave behind a weird film on the skin. I would most definitely repurchase these.

Ingredients: Aqua/Water/Eau, Isohexadecane, Isopropyl Myristate, Glycerin, Peg-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Hexylene Glycol, Dicaprylyl Ether, Ceramide Np, Ceramide Ap, Ceramide Eop, Carbomer, Triethyl Citrate, Sodium Hydroxide, Sodium Lauroyl Lactylate, Cholesterol, Piroctone Olamine, Tocopherol, Hydroxyacetophenone, Caprylyl Glycol, Citric Acid, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Phytosphingosine, Xanthan Gum, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Benzoic Acid.

Peach Slices Oil Control Balancing Mist

Price: $19.99 for 4oz

The Peach Slices Oil Control Balancing Mist is aimed to be a shine-blocking mist. The mist is formulated with Niacinamide, Zinc, Pine Bark, and Green Tea. This combination helps to reduce excess oil, minimize the appearance of pores, and to mattify the skin. I really think the mist did a great job at balancing my skin. It’s hard to say if it really reduced excess oil, but I guess I can say my skin didn’t appear overly oily during the times I used it. But being that I have normal to oily skin, there’s always going to be some type of level of shine by mid-day. I kept this mist in my bathroom, and I used immediately after showering and washing my face. I really love the level of hydration it provided for it being a mist that combats oily skin. Being that I really enjoyed using it, I would possibly repurchase in the future.

Ingredients: Water, Propanediol, Niacinamide, 1,2-Hexanediol, Erythritol, Glycerin, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Pinus Densiflora Bark Extract, Pinus Palustris Leaf Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Propolis Extract, Zinc PCA, Lactobacillus Ferment, Allantoin, Polylysine, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Ulmus Davidiana Root Extract, Pueraria Lobata Root Extract, Cynanchum Atratum Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Butylene Glycol, Fomes O Cinalis (Mushroom) Extract, Rosmarinus O Cinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Flower Extract, Sodium Citrate, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Extract, Citric Acid, Caprylyl Glycol.

Korres Greek Yoghurt Foaming Cream Cleanser

Price: $16 for 2.54 oz

I’ve always heard great things about this cleanser and the first opportunity I had to try it out was through a sample packet. The Greek Yoghurt cleanser is formulated with prebiotic and probiotic properties. I really loved that it starts as a more fluid cream cleanser and emulsifies into more of foam. After every cleanse, my skin always felt clean without being stripped and well balanced. I really enjoyed it for both morning and evening cleansing routines. The mini size was perfect, being that a little of product goes a long way and I like to change out my cleansers pretty frequently.

Peter Thomas Roth 24K Gold Pure Hydra-Gel Eye Patches

Price: $75 for 60 patches

I really love these PTR Gold Eye Patches. Over the past few years, I’ve gone through several jars. Out of all of the variations of the eye patches, the cloud drench and these 24k gold patches are my favorite. I know many of the eye patches only provide short-term effects, but I really love how these feels, the hydration and the depuffing. Out of all the eye patches, these are some of the most expensive ones that I’ve tried. Being that I love these so much, I would consider repurchasing these in the future if I were to find them heavily discounted.

Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray

Price: $23 for 1oz

I’ve tried several setting mists over the years, but the Charlotte Tilbury Setting Spray has remained one of my favorites for the past few years. I think this setting spray does a great job with prolonging the wear of makeup, even during the hot summer months! Whenever I see the mini sizes sold in 2 pack, I try to pick one up. Olaplex No.4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo

Price: $30 for 8.5oz

Hands down this is one of my favorite shampoos of all time! At this point I’ve gone through quite a few bottles and will most definitely repurchase. I really love how well the No. 4 cleanses my scalp and hair without stripping it. I pretty much used this shampoo on a weekly basis, usually as a second cleanser when I double cleanse. I’ve noticed that a little bit of this shampoo goes a very long way. As for the bond maintenance feature, it’s hard to say as this is a wash off product that’s not kept on the hair for a long period of time. I can say that I love the way my hair looks and feels after using it and how much it helps with adding moisture back into my hair whilst it cleanses. I know $30 is pricey for a shampoo, but I want to say this bottle lasted me almost a full year (9 months)!

Ouai Treatment Hair Mask for Fine to Medium Hair

Price: $38 for 8oz

Prior to trying out the fine to medium hair version, I tried out the version for thick hair and I found the formulas to be pretty identical with the exception of the thick version being a heavier consistency. I enjoyed using this hair mask and think it worked fairly well to provide extra hydration and nourishment for my hair. I more so reached for this treatment mask when I was looking for a quick masking session as this one recommends keeping it on for 5 minutes. Once those 5 minutes were up, I really felt a difference in my hair! I would possibly repurchase it again if it were on sale.

K18 Leave-in Molecular Repair Hair Mask

Price: $29 for 0.5oz

For those that do not know, K18 is a leave-in treatment mask that claims to reverse hair damage in just 4 minutes. The mask is formulated with peptides to help repair that has suffered from bleach, chemical services and heat damage.  The directions to use this is very particular,. It’s indicated to apply it after shampooing and not to use regular conditioner, which I think is the part that trips post people on. The treatment is also supposed to be emulsified by rubbing it together in your hands until the consistency is more like a light paste. Even with using the smallest amount of product, I still had to use more than the recommended one dime size. Using more product means the product doesn’t last as long as it’s projected to. As for the results, I can say I’m happy with what I experienced, which was stronger hair and less shedding. I know this is not a treatment that is aimed for multiple times a week or even weekly. I typically used it once every 2-3 weeks. I definitely plan on repurchasing it when I’m able to get it on sale.

Ingredients: Water (Aqua) (Eau), Alcohol Denat., Propylene Glycol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Dicaprylyl Ether, Cetyl Esters, Behentrimonium Chloride, Polysorbate 20, sh-Oligopeptide-78 (K18Peptide), Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Hydrolyzed Wheat Starch, Isopropyl Alcohol, Tocopherol, Phenoxyethanol, Potassium Sorbate, Citric Acid, Fragrance (Parfum), Geraniol, Linalool, Hexyl Cinnamal, Benzyl Alcohol.

Mielle Pomegranate & Honey Curl Defining Mousse With Hold

Price: $10.99 for 7.5oz

I picked up this Curl Defining Mousse on a whim, probably because it was on sale. The Pomegranate & Honey line must be one of my favorites. The Curl Defining Mousse is described as a non-sticky mousse with hold that’s perfect type 4 hair. At this point I’ve tried several different types of curl defining mousses and this has to be one of the most moisturizing ones that I’ve tried. I’ve used this foam on both dry styling and wet styling my hair. I really like it for twist outs/braid out styles. I know the foam is labeled as having a hold to it, but I find the hold to be more on the lighter side, which I don’t mind. The foam has a lovely light floral scent that’s not overpowering. I typically use serval products at once when styling my hair and I feel like these work well with a lot of the other products that I already incorporate into my haircare routine.

Ingredients: Water (Aqua, Eau), Decyl Glucoside, Polyquaternium-55, Polysorbate 20, PVP, Methyl Gluceth-20, Phenoxyethanol, Benzoic Acid, Ethylhexylglycerin, Glycereth-2 Cocoate, Oleth-20, Honey, Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Juice, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Fruit Extract, Punica Granatum Seed Oil, Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Extract, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Orbignya Oleifera Seed Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Silk Amino Acids, Panthenol, Quaternium-75, Disodium EDTA, Tocopheryl Acetate, Citric Acid, Fragrance (Parfum)

The Rootist BioBrew™ Fermented Strengthening Serum Spray for Roots, Scalp & Hair

Price: $48 for 1oz

The BioBrew is described as a lightweight serum spray for both the hair and scalp to help control frizz, boost shine, protect against heat and repair damage. I want to say I went through this bottle in the matter of a little over a month with using it several times a week. I feel like I went through the bottle so quickly and it’s probably due to the fact that I was using it more on mid-ends of my hair. Perhaps, if I was only using it on my scalp, the product would last a little longer. I really like the scent and how my hair felt when I used it. I really can’t speak on long time benefits as it wasn’t in my routine very long before running out.

Ingredients: Lactobacillus/(Centella Asiatica/Coffee Seed/Ganoderma Lucidum/Hops/Panax Ginseng Root/Scutellaria Baicalensis Root) Extract/Pea Extract/Rice Seed Extract Ferment Filtrate, C13-15 Alkane, Dioctyldodecyl Dodecanedioate, Ethylhexyl Pelargonate, Water/Aqua/Eau, Pentylene Glycol, Butylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Hydrolyzed Yeast Protein, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Sphingomonas Ferment Extract, Inulin, Hydroxypropylammonium Gluconate, Alpha-Glucan Oligosaccharide, Saccharide Isomerate, Hydroxypropylgluconamide, Sodium Acetylated Hyaluronate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer, Hydrolyzed Sodium Hyaluronate, Caesalpinia Spinosa Fruit Pod Extract, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Sprout Extract, Moringa Oleifera Seed Oil, Melia Azadirachta Extract, Coccinia Indica Fruit Extract, Eclipta Prostrata Extract, Sodium Citrate, Heptyl Glucoside, Glycerin, Maltodextrin, Polyglyceryl-10 Laurate, Sodium Phytate, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, Glycolic Acid, Citric Acid, Tartaric Acid, Benzyl Alcohol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Citral, Citronellol, Geraniol, Hydroxycitronellal, Limonene, Linalool, Fragrance/Parfum.

Mielle Rosemary Mint Scalp & Hair Strengthening Oil

Price: $10.99 for 2.oz

I’ve been using the Rosemary Mint Scalp Oil on and off for quite a few years. I know people swear by it for hair growth and I can’t say I’ve noticed any of those effects from the oil. I do think the oil does a great job at moisturizing my dry scalp and the ends of my hair. I think keeping these areas moisturized as help with less splitting of my hair and has helped to keep it moisturized. Being that I really enjoy using the oil for its moisturizing benefits, I’ll continue to purchase it. If I do happen to see any hair growth that I feel is linked to the oil, I’ll be sure to follow up with a more detailed post.

Camille Rose Cocoa Nibs & Honey Ultimate Growth Serum - 8oz

Price: $16.99 for 8oz

I believe this may be my second completed bottle of the Natural Nibs & Honey Ultimate Growth Serum from Camille Rose. The oil has a blend of alma, brahmi herbs, honey, and coconut. The amber bottle is to protect light sensitive oils within Cocoa Nibs and twist turn nozzle to make it easier to apply the oil directly to the scalp. The oil is described as light weight and said to moisturize the scalp without causing a greasy buildup. I really love how this oil smells. It’s slightly sweet, but not overpowering. The oil did a great job at keeping my scalp and my overall hair moisturized for multiple days at time when I used it. I can’t say I saw much hair growth when using the oil, but that wasn’t my main concern when using the oil. I think for the price and quantity size it’s a very good price. I would like repurchase in the future.

Bioderma Atoderm Cleansing Shower Oil

Price: $30 for 33oz

The Bioderma Cleansing Oil has been a staple in my routine for the past 4+ years. It can be used for the face and body. As the name states, the formula starts as an oil and then quickly transforms into a milky cleanser that helps to cleanse the skin, while moisturizing and maintaining the barrier of the skin. I find it to be multifunctional. I use the cleansing oil in place of a shaving gel. During the winter months I love to use it on its own as it helps to lock in moisture. On the occasion where my skin feels a little irritated/itchy, this is the first thing I reach for.

La Roche Posay Lipikar AP+M Triple Repair Body Moisturizing Cream for Dry Skin

Price: $19.99 for 13.5oz

The Lipikar AP+M Triple Repair body creams is one of the best body creams that I’ve tried with a pump applicator. The cream is formulated with prebiotic thermal water, ceramides, shea butter and niacinamide.

The triple repair body cream is said to hydrated and relieve dry skin. I can say it lives up to these claims. The cream has a rich texture that’s not greasy. I really love that the cream and be used on both the face and body. I tend to break out with hives and deal with irritated skin and during those times I’ve reached for this cream, and it did such a great job at providing relief and moisture at the same time. Being that this cream is on the heavier side, I really enjoyed used it during the winter months when my skin is really dry. For the price point and quality, I can’t recommend this one enough.

Saltair Golden Hour Body Wash

Price: $14.99 for 17oz

The Golden Hour Body Wash is an oil infused body wash, and it smells like a tropical vacation! It has scent notes of pineapple, coconut, and sunflower. I really love how well the body wash suds up and how hydrated it leaves my skin after using it. The pump applicator made it super easy to use whilst in the shower. I really hope Saltair expands on this scent and make more products with the Golden Hour scent. Being that I really like the formula and the price point, I would definitely recommend and repurchase in the future.

Topicals High Roller Ingrown Hair Tonic with AHA & BHA

Price: $26 for 1.7oz

I’ve pretty much lost count of all of the High Roller Ingrown Hair Tonics that I’ve gone through over the past few years. As I finish one bottle, I repurchase another! Over this time frame of using the tonic roller it I’ve noticed a significant decrease with ingrown hairs. I also think it does a great job at gradually exfoliating the skin and helping to fade hyperpigmentation. Each bottle lasts me about 8 months. I can’t say enough good things about the high roller tonic and would highly recommend it!

Josie Maran Argan Sugar Balm Body Scrub - Strawberries and Cream

Price: $38 for 10 oz

The Josie Maran Sugar Body Scrub is more of an oil-infused that’s formulated with 100% argan oil and coconut oil. The scrub itself feels more like a soft paste and not like a conventional scrub.

The scrub is aimed to provide gentle physical exfoliation. The scrub itself takes some time to rub in and doesn’t really emulsify when mixed with water. I do agree that this scrub is great for gentle exfoliation, but I usually like more scrubs to have more of a grit. I feel like maybe this would work better on dry or slightly damp skin versus totally wet skin if you’re looking for more of a gritty exfoliating scrub. Scent wise I found the scent to be barely there, which is a nice if you easily get overwhelmed by strong fragrances. Even though it doesn’t provide a deep level of exfoliation, I do think this is a great scrub to use prior to shaving – especially the scrub is oil based and almost leaves behind a light layer of moisture to the skin.

Trader Joe’s Brazilian Nut Body Oil

Price: $6.99 for 4oz

The Brazilian Nit Body Oil has a salted caramel and pistachio scent. The smell compliments the other products that are in the Brazilian Nut family. The consistency of the oil is more in the middle ground of not being too light nor too heavy. I feel like the oil does a pretty good job at moisturizing my skin without making it feel overly greasy. In comparison to other oils that I’ve tried, I feel like this one is not as long lasting. The Brazilian nut oil is housed in a glass bottle with a pump applicator, which seems to be a nice upgrade in comparison to some of the other products sold at TJ’s. I enjoyed using it, but I don’t think I would go out of my way to repurchase it. Being that the oil is more the lighter side in terms of moisture levels, I do think this would be great for the summer months!

Ingredients: ISOAMYL LAURATE, CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE, RICINUS COMMUNIS (CASTOR) SEED OIL, HELIANTHUS ANNUUS (SUNFLOWER) SEED OIL, FRAGRANCE, BERTHOLLETIA EXCELSA (BRAZIL NUT) SEED OIL, SQUALANE, OLEA EUROPAEA (OLIVE) FRUIT OIL, SIMMONDSIA CHINENSIS (JOJOBA) SEED OIL, MACADAMIA INTEGRIFOLIA SEED OIL, ZEA MAYS (CORN) OIL, BETA-CAROTENE, TOCOPHEROL, CAFFEINE, WATER, MALTODEXTRIN, PAULLINIA CUPANA (GUARANA) SEED EXTRACT, PHOSPHATIDYLCHO- LINE, GLYCERIN, ISOCHRYSIS GALBANA EXTRACT, NANNOCHLOROPSIS GADITANA EXTRACT.

Byredo Mojave Ghost Hand Cream

Price: $50 for 1oz

The Byredo hand cream in Mojave Ghost has a light version of the scent. Mojave Ghost is one of my favorite scents from Byredo and one of the scents that they’ve really expanded upon. The cream is very moisturizing, but not greasy, which makes for a great hand cream. I do think the price is very expensive for the size of only being one ounce. Even with the price being on the pricier side, I do think this would be a great gift for someone if you know they like some of the Byredo scents.

KEY SCENT NOTES:

- Top notes: ambrette, Jamaican nesberry

- Middle notes: violet, sandalwood, magnolia

- Base notes: chantilly musk, crisp amber, cedarwood

ETC.

Public Spirit Hand Soap

Price: $14 for 16oz

Public Spirit states that they create personal care for a meaningful social impact. I had the opportunity to try out the hand soap from the line. It’s described as a skin-softening soap with amino acids, jojoba oil and vitamin E. The soap has scent notes of cardamom, violet, and sandalwood and it smelled so good. The soap did a great job at cleansing, and I love that it didn’t strip my skin and actually felt some what moisturizing. Based on the excellent price point and performance, I would highly recommend trying it out or even purchasing it as a gift a loved one.

Price: $10

I love these hand sanitizers so much! I’ve been using them for several years at this point. During the holiday season I like to stock up on them to gift to loved ones and replenish my personal stock. They’re so easy to use, moisturize my hands all whilst keeping them clean. I love that they have a wide variety of scents and an unscented version. Previously Reviewed - October Empties 2021

Boy Smells Copal Fantome Candle

Price: $48 for 8.5oz

The Copal Fantome candle is a heavy smokey and spicy candle scent. The Fantome line is said to ignite your spirits with warm, smoking scents laced with spice, woods, and earthy accords. I’m not sure if this candle edit was released with the intention of being a limited edition, but at this point this particular scent has been discontinued but can still be found in a few select stores. I really enjoyed the smoky woody scent of this candle. I feel like the throw it on was it pretty decent for a medium size room. As for the packaging, I really like the dark grey frosted shade and I know I’ll be repurposing it.

Scent notes: copal, roasted cinnamon, charred clove, nutmeg, cedarwood, leather, guaiac wood, patchouli, pine tar, vanilla bean, akigalawood.
