June '24 Empties
Another month and another round of empties. It was definitely a month of a lot of body care empties. After reflecting on the body care products that I’ve finished and the products that I have opened, I know I need to be better about finishing up my sunscreens for both my face and my body before they expire. Let me know if this is an issue for you too! Out of all my empties from last month the Caudalie Fig Body Oil Elixir. I go into detail within the post why I enjoyed it so much.

Josie Maran Skin Dope Body Wash

This a gel like consistency body wash that is unscented. After revisiting this body wash several years later, I still enjoyed using it. Since completing my last bottle in 2020 it appears that this body wash has been discontinued, which is a shame as I feel like it would be a great option for those that have sensitive skin and looking to avoid heavily fragranced products. I’m now wondering if Josie Maran replaced the Skin Dope Body Wash with the new body wash of EveryBODY Wash Now

Caudalie Thé des Vignes Shower Gel

I was so excited to see that Caudalie expanded their body care line, at least here in the States, to now have body washes. The Des Vignes shower gel is described as gentle soap-free body wash that is inspired by dusk at the vineyard. I really looked forward to each and every shower with this shower gel. I love how well the formula suds up. The scent blend of white musk, ginger, neroli smelled amazing during my showers. I can’t recommend this shower gel enough. For the price point, quality, and size I think this is. a great buy!

Caudalie Moisturizing Fig Body Oil Elixir

The Fig Body Oil Elixir may just very well be my favorite product from Caudalie. The fig oil is housed in a glass bottle with a spray applicator, making the packaging full luxurious and functional at the same time. It can be used on the body and hair. The oil is light-weight, but also still moisturizing on the skin. I loved that it kept my skin moisturized for hours at time and left behind a light fig scent. I used the body oil several times a week and with that usage it lasted for several months. I know this oil is on the pricier side, but it’s definitely worth checking out, especially if you can get it on sale.

Bath and Body Works Shower Gel Gingham Love

The Bath and Body Works Gingham Love is not a scent I would typically go for as it’s a Floral Fruity Gourmand. It has notes of sugared red berries, blushing freesia, and rose meringue. With notes like this you know this is more on the sweeter side, which I didn’t mind. This was a perfect scent for the spring and summer months.
Bioderma Atoderm Body Cleansing Oil

The Bioderma Cleansing Oil has been a favorite of mine for years and since then I’ve gone through quite a few bottles. I prefer to buy it in the larger size, 33 oz, as it lasts longer. I use the cleansing oil on my body for cleansing and for shaving. It’s been one of my go to products when my skin is reactive (active hives). I think the cleanser does a great job at cleansing my skin and leaving it feel moisturized. The cleansing oil can also be used on the face, but I prefer using it on my body.

Trader Joe’s Brazilian Nut Body Cream

I really enjoyed using this Trader Joe’s body cream. I really like the thick consistency and how well it moisturized my skin. I’ve been using it on and off the past few years. I’m happy to see that it’s returned to Trader Joe’s this summer. Being that it seems to be a popular item, I hope that it returns every year. I believe I received this serum in one of my Ipsy Bags and I’m so happy I did. The Magic Serum is a nourishing and soothing serum that aims to strength the skin. It has key ingredients like centella Asiatica Extract, panthenol, and shea butter. The serum is very runny and hydrated my skin very well. Being that the serum was marketed as nourishing the skin, I typically used in my retinol/tretinoin night routine. While using it within this routine I noticed that my skin always felt hydrated and I think it did a great job at keeping the barrier of my skin intact, especially since tretinoin can be so powerful on the skin.

Supergoop Every Single Face Watery Lotion SPF 50

The Every Single Face sunscreen is a chemical-based sunscreen that has a very fluid like consistency. Being that the consistency is more on the runny side, I thought the sunscreen would have a lighter feeling on the skin and it somewhat does, but it also makes me look super shiny. I tried the sunscreen during both the winter months when my skin is on the drier side and during the summer months when my skin is on the oiler sider. It’s recommended for those with normal, combo, dry and oily skin types. But this is something I would beg to differ on. I have combination skin that is normal to oily, and I found the sunscreen to make me look very shiny. While using the sunscreen I didn’t have any issues with sensitivity to the formula or any issues with it burning my eyes. Overall, I do think it’s a great sunscreen but just not a great for my skin type.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Oatmeal Mask

At this point it’s hard to say how many tubes of this mask that I’ve gone through over the years. The mask is described as a hydrating mask that is formulated with Colloidal Oatmeal, Oat Bran and Antioxidants. The mask itself has the consistency of creamy oatmeal and feels so soothing on the skin. I typically reached for this mask if my skin was feel reactive and before using Tretinoin. After using the mask my face always felt super soft, hydrated and calm. If you have sensitive or reactive skin, this may be one to check out.

After trying out so many different vitamin c serums and formulas over the years, the Skinceuticals C E Ferulic has remained one of my favorites. I do feel this is the most potent and effective formula that I’ve tried as it’s formulated with 15% L-ascorbic acid. Whenever this serum is in my routine my skin has a great overall glow, it helps with fading some of my minor dark spots and I really like that formula doesn’t feel greasy on my combination (normal-oily) skin. I do have a few minor cons about it though. The C E Ferulic has the typical pure vitamin c scent to it, which many people describe as smelling almost like hot dog water. I don’t find the scent offense and has never stopped me from using it. With pure vitamin c formulas, they’re known for not always being stable and tend to oxidize. With the C E Ferulic I noticed this towards the end of my usage. With all that said, I still think this is one of the best vitamin c serums that I’ve used!

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara -Chocolate

I purchased the Better Than Sex Mascara in the brown chocolate shade on a whim when it was on sale at Ulta. Over the years I’ve gone through many tubes of the mascara in the black shade. I always loved how much volume and length that it gave my lashes, but I always hated how much it flaked when I wore it. I’m happy to say the brown version of this mascara provided the same great results, without the flaking. The brown shade has a really nice reddish undertone to it. I find the shade to be so complimentary and made the shade of brown eyes pop more. I absolutely loved this brown shade and I’ll pick it up again when I see it on sale.
Dior Beauty Dior Addict Lip Glow

The Lip Glow formulas have been my favorite for the longest time and actually one of the products that piqued my interest with Dior beauty products. Over the years I’ve gone through several tubes at a moderate-slow pace. The lip glow is a hydrating and long-wearing lip balm. Over the years the shade range have expanded with so many shades and now different variations of it. I love these lip balms when I want a balmy like gloss that has just a bit of color. When I get to the very end of the tube, I use a lip brush to scoop out the very last bit. Since finishing this tube, I’ve already repurchased another tube. I know these are pricey and very much a splurge, but I only purchase them when they’re on sale. Many retailers like Macys, Nordstrom and even Sephora tends to do beauty sales that start around 15%-20%.
Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask - Peach Iced Tea

I remember when these used to be around $20, nonetheless, I still love these lip sleeping masks. The lip sleeping mask is a leave-on lip mask that provides intense moisture and antioxidants. I believe the peach ice tea flavor was a limited edition a while back. I love the level of shine the lip sleeping mask provides and how well it keeps my lips moisturized. I’m not the biggest fan of lip balm/glosses that are in pots that do not come with an applicator. Thankfully all of the Lanegie lip sleeping masks come with a lip brush applicator. If you would prefer a lip gloss that you don’t have to use your fingers or an applicator, you should check out the Laneige Lip Glowy Balm.
Hair Care Products
Ceremonia Aceite de Moska Pre-Shampoo Scalp & Hair Oil

The Ceremonia Aceite de Moska is a pre-shampoo treatment that is aimed to balance the scalp and is aimed for those that have dry scalp, product build up on the scalp and those that have an oily scalp. The oil itself is more on the lighter side and distributes through the scalp well. I can’t really say I noticed much of a difference with my scalp using it as directed, which is 10-15 minutes before washing your hair. I typically used it the night before or several hours before washing my hair. This method allowed for the oil to fully saturate and work into my scalp, thus leading to my scalp feeling more moisturized and soothed. Being that this is a wash out treatment and I don’t see a dramatic results when I use it, I would likely not repurchase it.

I purchased this Do Son fragrance for myself I believe back I in 2019. As a rose lover I was instantly drawn to the opening tuberose note. The orange blossom is not something I typically go for, but combined with the tuberose is so nice. For a floral fragrance this is more on the heavier side, but still very daytime appropriate. This was a scent that I wore year round day and night. I feel like the scent has a decent last powering. As for repurchasing, I already have a back up ready to go!
Bath and Body Works Rosewater and Ivy Candle

The Rosewater and Ivy scent from BBW is one of my faves! Whenever I can get this candle and any of the other products in the scent line on sale, I try to pick something up. The rose water and ivy scent is more on the fresh side and lingers beautifully!
Fragrance notes: soft rose petals, rain kissed English ivy, lemon blossom and soft spring musk.
Signature by Aroma Essentials Cactus & Rose Candle
Price: $12.99 for 18oz
I purchased this candle at Home Goods a few months ago. I love rose scents and I really liked the candle design. I burned this candle during the spring months and I really love the fresh rose aroma it gave off. Now that the candle is finished I will recycling the jar and reusing it to store fresh flowers.
