No Buy July Challenge - Results
As you may remember, during the month of July I participated in a No Buy Challenge. During this challenge my aim was to not purchase any unnecessary beauty and clothing items.
Are you wondering how I did with the challenge? Did I buy anything? If so, what?
I really think the hardest part of the "No Buy Challenge" was just the limitations of knowing that I couldn't purchase anything. During the month of a July I felt like more items (beauty and fashion) had reached my radar. Everywhere I turned there was products on sale or new products being released.
I was doing fine up until July 24th! I was so close!!! But one of my beauty peers on Instagram published a post about the Sephora Playbox (previous review) offering a past playbox that had one particular item that I thought it would make justify me losing to my own no buy challenge.

The item was the Drunk Elephant TLC Sukari Baby Facial. I currently own the Baby Facial in the deluxe sample size, but I know it's due to finish soon. I justified the purchase with the thought that it was something I love and was planning on purchasing in the future after finishing my deluxe sample size.
The Drunk Elephant Sukari Baby Facial is a AHA/BHA mask that works as an at home facial. It’s great for all skin types and within 20 minutes it provides noticeably softer skin. The facial contains 25 percent AHA and 2 percent BHA, plus a blend of glycolic, tartaric, lactic, citric, and salicylic acids.

Well... when I received my Sephora Playbox I didn't get ANY of the items that were supposed to be in the Playbox! I called Sephora and they refunded the total amount I paid.
So I guess you can say it evened out.
But then.....A few days later I tried a sample of the Tocca Florence perfume and fell in love with it! The Tocca Florence perfume is nothing like any of my current perfumes. The perfume is described as the following:

Italian Bergamot, Grapefruit Leaves, Green Pear, Apple, Ivory Gardenia, Crushed Violet Petals, Jasmine, Tuberose, Blue Iris, Blonde Wood, White Musk.
Style:
Sophisticated. Romantic. Feminine.
I purchased the roller ball size of 0.33 oz/ 10 ml and a within a few days a significant amount was used. The few days of testing and wearing the perfume I was happy to say that It lasted quite a bit of hours on my skin whereas some perfumes would fade after two or three hours.
The scent is very floral, but also sophisticated. I categorize the Florence scent as being more spring/summer perfume. At the rate of my usage, the rollerball will be finished by the beginning of September.
What I've Learned From The Challenge......
Ultimately, what I learned from the challenge is that it's often difficult to limit yourself. Once a limitation is put into place, at least for me, I tend to think about what I can't have more and more.
I also learned that when trying out a new product or item, at least for me, it's probably best to purchase it in the travel or sample size. Purchasing items in a smaller size will actually allow me to finish a product and be able to fully assess it at a lower rate. Mini's also take up less space and my beauty product space is very limited.
What I plan to do different for my next challenge
1- Throughly go through products prior to the challenge
2-Put aside products that I haven't reached for or haven't thought about
3- From this pile decide which products that I would like to donate to family or friends
4- The products that I do plan on keeping to use- storing them at the front of my vanity or in areas that will make them easier to be seen
