Facial Skincare Tools + Giveaway
Are you unable to get to a spa for a professional facial? As much as I love a good facial, having one weekly or even monthly is not something that is always feasible. Over the course of the past years to the recent months, I’ve added and incorporated various new beauty tools into my skincare routine that I feel that has helped me maximize the benefits of my products.
Cleansing Tools
Facial Electric Cleansing Brush
The first step in my beauty routine is cleansing. I know many people like to just use their fingertips while others like using electronic cleansing tools such as the Clarisonic or the Foreo. I haven’t quite made that expensive step with electronic cleansing devices. Instead I’ve been using the Vanity Planet Ultimate Skin Spa : Facial Cleansing System. It retails for $129 (USD), but with so many readily available offer codes the prices totals around $40.00 (USD) (Click Here for my referral link ). I like that the brush has two different speeds, comes with 3 different brush heads, battery operated and water resistant.
How to Use: Hold the device so the brush head is flush against your skin, then press the On/Off button to select your desired mode. Gently glide the Facial Cleansing Brush over your skin’s surface in a circular motion, careful not to apply too much force to the brush head as this may cause irritation to your skin.
The spin brush really cleans my face and only requires the smallest bit of cleanser to get a good foam to form. The fact that the cleansing system has multiple speeds and comes with various brush heads makes it suitable to all skin types. I’m open to trying out other cleansing devices, but for now I think this one works well. I do think using an electronic brush for cleansing is also based on personal preference.
Cotton Wash Cloths
I know many wouldn’t consider a wash cloth as a cleansing tool. But for various cleansers and masks it’s the best and easiest way to remove them. Cotton wash cloths are extremely affordable and readily accessible. One very important thing to keep in mind when cleansing your face with a washcloth is to be as gentle as possible. Scrubbing too hard or using too much friction on your skin can create micro tears along stretching your pores.
Treatment Tools
Gua Sha
*gifted from True Botanicals
Purpose: Gua Sha is the practice of using a tool to apply pressure and scrape the skin to relieve pain and tension. The Gua Sha stone also helps with lymphatic drainage and helps to firm the skin.
How To Use: After applying your favorite oil/moisturizer onto your face and neck use the concave side of the stone at your forehead by sweeping the stone from the center of your face moving outwards to your hairline. For under the eyes move the stone from the outside of the eyes towards the nose. To use the Gua Sha over the cheekbones glide the stone in the direction from the nose towards your ear. For the area below your cheekbones scoop and lift your cheek from nostrils to earlobes.
When using the stone on the jawline it’s recommended to use the jagged side to scoop
I’ve only had the Gua Sha stone for a few days. I haven’t had a chance to test it out just yet. But based on what I know, I imagine it to be very similar to a stone roller (jade/rose quartz). I will be testing it out soon to see how it compares and also pairs with Rose Quartz/Jade Roller. If you would be interested in seeing a separate review on this, please comment below to let me know.
Rose Quartz Roller
Purpose: The Rose Quartz roller helps you to achieve a bright, youthful glow by reducing the appearance of fine lines, minimizing pores and tightening the skin. As with the Gua Sha stone, the roller also helps with lymphatic system by helping drain fluids and toxins.
How To Use:
The large roller is for surface areas, such as the neck, cheeks, forehead and chin. The small roller is for those more condensed areas, such as around the eyes. For better results, I like to combine the rolling with facial serums or masks. The roller allows for deeper application of these products.
I purchased my Rose Quartz Roller from Amazon. I’ve been using it since May. I store the roller in the fridge and use it with serums and facemasks. I love the cooling effects and I really think it helps products such as serums, moisturizers and oils absorb better into the skin. I’ve recently started using my face roller with sheet masks and I love the effects! As for the stone authenticity, being that I ordered it from Amazon I cannot say for certain that it’s made out of real Rose Quartz. Either way I do feel that the Rose Quartz roller is a beneficial tool within my skincare routine.
Derma Roller / Microneedling
Gifted by Matykos
Purpose The 0.25mm is best for boosting skincare product absorption.
I was kindly gifted the Derma roller by Matykos. Prior to trying out it out I did some extensive research on the roller to ensure that I would be using a product that would be beneficial to my skincare needs. When I first heard about Microneedling it was through people mentioning that they’ve had it done at a dermatologist or spa like place. The micro needle /dermaroller from Matykos is constructed with a 0.25MM which is known to be the safest for the beginners and is the most common roller needle size. I do think the roller helps products to absorb into the skin better.
I like using the derma roller with the following oils:
Biossance Squalane Oil - A weightless multupurpose oil that can be used from head to toe to hydrate and lock in essential moisture.
Sunday Riley Juno Oil - A unique blend of antioxidant-rich, superfood seed oils such as essential amino acids, omegas 3, 6, and 9.
Korres Wild Rose Vitamin C Active Brightening Oil- A powerful brightening oil infused with real rose petals and boosted with Super Vitamin C, for glowing, radiant skin.
How To Use:
1. Sterilize roller in alcohol solution before and after each use;
2. Wash your face with the Facial Sponges and dry it afterward;
3. Do not puncture skin but apply pressure. Roll back and forth in the desired area for 4 - 5 times. Then, switch direction;
4. In the end, apply moisturizer or repairing serum on your face;
5. Store the Roller inside the plastic case;
