Have you ever heard of eye patches or should I say an eye mask that is meant to be used overnight? Up until a month ago the whole concept was new to me. Of course, I’ve used quick eye masks that only required them to be worn for 10 minutes. But I always felt the results were slim to none. I typically would only use them when I would remember and I’m definitely not one of those people that can throw on eye patches in the morning prior to getting ready due to lack of time. History

VIIcode is a brand that specializes in eye care. It’s skincare dates back to more than two centuries. It was originally created by Dr. Byrne Victor for Queen Josephine (Napoleon’s wife). As someone who is very much into anti-aging and always looking to improve the health of my skin, I prefer to use products and ingredients that are more on the natural spectrum. I use eye creams in both my morning and evening routines. I’m extremely good when it comes to using facial masks multiple times a week. But I wanted to apply this same measure for my eye area.

Ingredients

I believe the area underneath the eyes should be treated delicately and also needs extra TLC. As with my other posts, I always think it’s important to pay attention to the Top 5 ingredients in your skincare as they make up the majority of the formulation and concentration of the product.

The VII ingredients are as follows:

Glycerin, Carbomer, Cellulose, Tetrasodium EDTA, Allantoin, Aloe Barbadensis, Lavandula Angustifolia, Methyparaben, Propylparaben, Smart Q10, Aqua, Algin, Cellulose Gum, CitricAcid, Sorbitol, SodiumPCA, Butylene Glycol, y-PGA, Sodium Hyaluronate, vitamin E, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Ethylbisimino methyl guaiacol Manganese Chloride.

Ingredient Breakdown:

Glycerin Attracts moisture to skin. Acts an emollient, making skin moist, soft and supple
Carbomer has the ability to absorb and retain water, and can swell up to 1000 times their original volume when dispersed in water
Cellulose an organic compound derived from plant cell walls and strong humectant properties, which helps to increase the amount of moisture in the skin
Tetrasodium EDTA- Penetration enhancer
Allantoin-considered an effective moisturizing ingredient when used in skincare, and its gentle, non-irritating qualities make it an excellent addition to anti-aging products for those with sensitive or easily irritated skin.

Experience using VII Code

Directions: Use after cleansing, gently press to assist the skin with absorbing the ingredients from the mask. Leave on for 8 hours and then remove. Use 2-3 times per week. Wear for about 8 hours.

The first thing that caught my eye about the VII Code eye masks are each pair was individually wrapped (see picture above). The eye patches are made with a gel-like material, which makes its different from conventional eye masks. My initial thought with the packing was that it would be great for travel or to even gift 1 pair to a friend or family member to try out. In my opinion, with each eye mask pair being individually wrapped also suggests they would be preserved longer!

When I initially applied the eye masks, I immediately noticed a pleasant cooling sensation. The side of the mask that is placed on to the skin has a gel like feel and the other side feels more like cloth. The mornings after using the eye masks I noticed that my area appeared to look great! I didn’t have any eye bags or a sleepy look to my eyes. I didn’t have any darkness around the eye area either. The eye patches made me appear to look well rested.

The directions call for the eye mask to be used several times a week. I was able to notice a difference after just one use. I have a beauty fridge and I actually prefer many of my face masks to be chilled when applied. I also tried storing the eye patches in the fridge prior to using them. The results were the same but the extra sense of cooling felt even better! Moving forward for my beauty and lifestyle routine, I want to include the VIIcode eye mask into each and every Sunday night skincare routine along with a day during the middle of the week.

I would highly recommend this to those that constantly suffer from dark circles and puffy eyes. Even if the reasons mentioned do not apply to you directly, I still believe the eye patches would make a great eye weekly treatment! Each box contains 6 pairs of eye patches.
