Native Deodorant + Ambassador
I’ve been testing out various natural deodorants since the fall. I’ve tried different brands, scents and formulas. I was recommended one particular deodorant brand the name of Native based on my last natural deodorant post where I compared two higher end deodorants (Blog Post: This or That: Farmacy vs. Kopari). The beginning of May I purchased a Target Bloom Into Beauty Box for only $5. Amongst a few other things, It included a mini of the Native Coconut Vanilla Deodorant. The mini is pretty small in size (0.35oz). I’ve been using it for about a month and I have nothing but good things to say about it. I liked the deodorant so much that I directly reached out to the company.

Review
The initial Native deodorant scent that I was introduced to was the Coconut Vanilla scent. These are two scents that I naturally gravitate to when it comes to body care products. The Native deodorant scent is light with a hint of sweetness. I find the scent to be neutral and unisex. The coconut vanilla scent is also a part of their sensitive skin line.
The Native Deodorants are solid sticks and apply to the skin as a dry texture consistency. I like this consistency as you don’t have to wait for it to dry down after its applied. It also applies to the skin fairly clear. I find that if I apply to much white streaks will appear. If that happens, I just rub the excess into my skin. As mentioned less is more. Applying too much natural deodorant can actually decrease the effectiveness.
In my personal opinion of using natural deodorant, I’ve noticed that scents that are more neutral and not too sweet tends to work the best over time. A sweet smelling deodorant mixture with the natural chemistry of the body can often smell really foul once you start sweating. I find sticking to light scents works the best for my body chemistry.
TIP: Less is More! 2-3 swipes under each arm is best. If you apply to much, be sure to rub in the excess to moisturize the skin and reduce wetness.
Daily Usage: I’ve been using the Native deodorant in the Coconut Vanilla well over a month now. I’m happy to say I haven’t experienced any type of skin irritation. For my typical usage I apply the deodorant in the morning to clean dry skin and then I go about my day. I go to the gym several days a week. This deodorant does not stop me from sweating. But even with the sweating and only applying it once during the day, there’s no odor. I don’t find the need to reapply during my workday or after my workout. I do keep a mini as a just in case. I’m happy to say I found something that works and also doesn’t require multiple applications throughout the day.
Size and Price
I find that the size and price sufficient for the price. I’ve tried natural deodorants that start at $9-$10 and others that cost as much as $15. The Native Deodorant full size of 2.65 ounces to be a sufficient amount that will easily last several months. Even the mini size with daily use would probably last as long as a month.
Will I Still Sweat?
One thing to remember is that natural deodorants will generally smell great as soon as they’re applied. The real test is once you start sweating will your body’s natural chemistry + the deodorant (fragrance and overall effectiveness) keep your from sweating and smelling foul. In my personal experience of using natural deodorants, they don’t block the sweat as well as conventional deodorants. Obviously, this is due to the fact that natural deodorants do not contain pore blockers like aluminum. But I must say even with sweating, I haven’t experience any days of smelling foul.
