1- Peach and Lily Glass Skin Veil Mist

Peach and Lily Glass Skin Veil Mist

Price: $$31

Could this be my favorite product from Peach and Lily? Yes, yes it is! The Glass Skin Veil Mist is formulated with key ingredients like Cucumber Water, Lotus Extract ,Peach Extract, Centella Asiatica Extract, Hyaluronic Acid, and Ceramides. The overall combination provides a soothing, antioxidant and hydrating mixture with each application spritz. Based on the ingredients and how well it performs, I do think this can be used in place of toner. For me this mist is more of a skincare mist versus a makeup mist, even though it can be used as both since the mister is more on the fine side.

I typically store the Glass Skin Mist in my bathroom. It’s the first product I use on my face after showering and washing my face. It provides an instant level of hydration AND moisture. This is combination is great as I have normal to oily skin that is dehydrated. Being that so much moisture is lost while I’m sleeping this has been a great addition in my PM night routines- especially when using Tretinoin.

After applying the mist my skin looks and feels hydrated. Unlike other mists that I’ve tried, my skin actually feels and is moisturized after using the Glass Veil Mist all without feeling heavy on my skin. I’m at the very end of my bottle and I will most definitely be repurchasing this again and again!

Ingredients: Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Water, Water(Aqua), Glycerin, Methylpropanediol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Propanediol, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Prunus Persica (Peach) Fruit Extract, Centella Asiatica Extract, Madecassic Acid, Nelumbo Nucifera (Lotus) Root Extract, Bambusa (Bamboo) Textilis Stem Extract, Arctium Lappa (Burdock) Root Extract, Morus Alba (Mulberry) Leaf Extract, Ceramide NP, Sodium Hyaluronate, Hyaluronic Acid, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Ceramide NS, Ceramide AS, Butylene Glycol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Asiaticoside, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Phytosphingosine, Citric Acid, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Tocopherol, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Ceramide AP, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Extract, Sodium Citrate, Ganoderma Lucidum (Mushroom) Extract, Phosphoric Acid, Ethylhexylglycerin, Asiatic Acid, Cholesterol, Polyglyceryl-10 Oleate, Propylene Glycol, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Ceramide EOP.

2. La Mer Treatment Lotion

The La Mer Treatment Lotion

Price: $$$ 180 for 5oz.

I was given the opportunity to test out the La Mer Treatment Lotion when it was being reformulated. It’s described as a watery lotion powered by recharging Miracle Broth™ that delivers all-day hydration and it’s said to be suitable for all skin types. Some of the key ingredients that stand out to me are algae extract, caffeine, revival ferment and hyaluronic acid. This combination is aimed to activate cell renewal, calm the skin, plump the skin and provide hydration. I honestly think it works well to do all of these!!

The Treatment Lotion in my opinion is almost like a heavier toner or like a toner and essence in one. I say this as the consistency is more on the viscous side. I typically applied the treatment lotion by pressing into my face and neck using my fingertips. I know the directions says it can be used with a cotton pad, but I think a cotton pad would soak up too much product; therefore causing you to go through the bottle faster.

I was able to just about get a years worth of usage out of this bottle. Some days I used it AM & PM and other days just at night. Immediately after applying the treatment lotion my face feels hydrated and I do notice a plumping effect. With the treatment lotion incorporated into my skincare routine my skin feels hydrated, softer and I think it helps to calm it down. At this point I’ve sampled other La Mer products and this is the one that truly stood out to me the most. I really would like to purchase it especially since this 5oz bottle lasted me such a long time.

3.  Shiseido Clear Sunscreen Stick SPF 50+

Shisedo Clear Sunscreen Stick SPF 50+

Price: $$29 for 0.7oz stick

The Shisedo Sunscreen Stick is a chemical based sunscreen stick that can be applied over or under makeup for sun protection. The stick glides on smooth and completely clear. Prior to trying this sunscreen, I had tried a few other suncreen sticks but felt that were heavy on my skin. The sunstick feels almost like a light oil being applied to the face.

With the Shisedo sunstick I use it both as a base sunscreen and for reapplication over makeup. Moreso, I’ve use it over makeup more. I try to apply 3 layers of the sunstick to ensure adequate coverage. Once applied I gently tap it into the my skin when wearing makeup. The days I’m not wearing makeup I swipe and go. I find that it doesn’t really disturb my makeup, but it definitely picks up some product- but not a significant amount.

I used this during the spring and summer months and it was a tad on the oily skin for my normal to oily combination skin. But during the fall and winter months it’s perfection! If you’re interested in a sunscreen to apply over makeup, I would highly suggest the Supergoop ReSetting Refreshing Mist SPF 40 .

Ingredients: Avobenzone 2.5%, Homosalate 10.0%, Octisalate 5.0%, Octocrylene 10.0%, Diphenylsiloxy Phenyl Trimethicone, Mineral Oil, Hydroxystearic Acid, Triethylhexanoin, PEG/PPG-9/2 Dimethyl Ether,Methyl Methacrylate Crosspolymer,Dibutyl Lauroyl Glutamide,C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate,Polyamide-8,Silica Dimethyl Silylate,Tocopheryl Acetate,PEG/PPG-14/7 Dimethyl Ether,Lecithin,Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract,PPG-17, Castor Oil/Ipdi Copolymer, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride,BHT, Tocopherol, PEG-6,Pentaerythrityl Tetra-Di-T-Butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate, Silica, Fragrance.

4. Necessaire Deodorant

Necessaire The Deodorant Gel

Price: $15

The Necessaire Deodorant Gel has been a favorite of mine this year and I’m on my second bottle. What initially caught my attention is the fact that formulation includes 5% AHA and Niacinamide. This combination helps to combat darkness under the arms, which often comes from shaving and the AHA helps with killing bacteria/odor. The inclusion of Niacinamide helps to strength the skin barrier as the area is often easily irritated.

In the past I was always drawn to stick/solid formulas and wasn’t sure what to expect with a gel formula. The Deodorant Gel goes on clear, it’s not sticky and it dries fairly quickly. I typically apply every morning and sometimes at night if I remember, but usually with my morning application I’m good for the day. Since using this deodorant I do feel like my underarms are more even toned and I feel that it provides a great odor protection. I want to say each first bottle lasted me about 5-6 months with daily usage! On both occasions I purchased the Eucalyptus scent (it also comes in a fragrance free) and the scent is present when its first applied, but then quickly dissipates. I do wish they made the deodorant gel in the sandalwood scent, but for the price and the results its a win win for me.

Ingredients: Aqua/Water/Eau, Mandelic Acid, Potassium Hydroxide, Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Water, Gluconolactone, Lactic Acid, Panthenol, Niacinamide, Glycerin, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Sodium Benzoate, Calcium Gluconate, Sodium Phytate, Eucalyptus Globulus (Eucalyptus) Leaf Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Abies Sibirica (Siberian Fir) Oil, Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Pogostemon Cablin (Patchouli) Oil, Benzoic Acid, Citric Acid, Limonene.

5. Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray

Charlotte Tillbury Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray

Price: $36 for 3.3oz

The Charlotte Tillbury Setting Mist is said to be a hydrating, oil-free setting mist that sets makeup for up to 16 hours without melting, fading or settling into lines and I think it lives up to it’s claims. After trying so many what claimed to be setting sprays, this was actually thee one!

I’ve heard people using this in many ways like applying prior to makeup, applying it between certain steps within their makeup routine and also just applying it at the end of their makeup routine. I use the setting mist only at the very end of my makeup routine. It really helps to lock everything in place, but it does not have a hydrating feeling on the face, but it also doesn’t feel drying.

I have normal to oily skin that is very much on the oilier side during the summer months. This past summer I used more cream and liquid based makeup products in my routine and I noticed even with wearing a mask, the CT Setting Mist really helped to prolong my makeup applications! At this point I’ve gone through several bottle and I’ve also purchased multiple minis to have when I travel.

6. Bread Beauty Supply Hair Oil Everyday Gloss

Bread Beauty Supply Hair Oil Everyday Gloss

Price: $14 for 30ml

The Bread Supply Hair Oil is a silicone free oil that an be used in multiple ways. The oil itself is not too light weight and not too heavy for my hair. It has a light grape fragrance to it that I love.

I typically rotate through different oils for my hair depending on if I'm wearing my hair straight or curly. Usually when my hair is straight I prefer a lighter oil to not weight it down and when my hair is curly I prefer a heavy oil to help combat with dryness. The Bread Hair oils works well in my hair for when it’s both curly and straight!

With this oil I really feels that it helps me with combating frizz, dryness and helps to seal in moisture. I really think price point is great for this oil. I love that it’s also available in an unscented version and comes in many different sizes.

Ingredients: Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil, Capryl Capric Triglycerides, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Oil, Argania Spinosa (Argan) Kernel Oil, Fragrance, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Terminalia Ferdinandiana (Kakadu Plum) Seed Oil.

7.  MAISON FRANCIS KURKDJIAN Gentle Fluidity Gold

MAISON FRANCIS KURKDJIAN Gentle Fluidity Gold

Price: $235

KEY NOTES: Juniper berries, nutmeg, coriander, musks, amber wood, vanilla

I know this was a big year for the infamous Baccarat Rouge 540. I smelled it and I like it, but not enough to purchase. In the process of sampling Baccarat 540 I looked into some of the other scents and Gentle Fluidity Gold was the first one to catch my eye and scent. In my opinion, it’s more on the spectrum of being classified as a feminine scent and the vanilla incorporation is very present. These are usually two things I almost steer away from when it comes to scents as I usually gravitate towards scents that are considered masculine and more on the

It’s hard for me to describe how Gentle Fluidity Gold smells, but to me I feel like it’s what I would imagine gold jewelry to smell like - but in the best possible way lol. I do think it’s a year round scent, but some of the notes appeal to me the most for the spring and fall months. It’s a perfume you really have to let it develop on your skin to see how you really like it.

8. Sunday Riley Good Genes Lactic Acid Serum

Sunday Riley Good Genes Lactic Acid Serum

Price: $85 for 1oz

The Sunday Riley Good Genes has been in my skincare routine on and off like 8+ years. It one was one of the first products that I splurged on and didn’t feel guilty about it because I love how well it worked. The Good Genes Serum is a 5% Lactic Acid serum that helps to target pores, hyperpigmentation, and dark spots. Lactic Acid is known for its light level of exfoliation that’s also suitable for even sensitive skin types.

When I initially started using the serum I used it in my Morning routine, but this time around I really love it for my night routines. As I started with Tretinoin, I noticed that many of the very potent products that I loved were no longer compatible with my skin as they were too strong. I feel like the Good Genes Serum is the perfect level of potency and gentleness all in one! I use the serum 2-3x per week and it really helps to immediately plump my skin, provide moisture to my skin and help with hyperpigmentation.

Ingredients: Botanical Blend [ Aqua, Opuntia Tuna Fruit Extract, Cypripedium Pubescens Extract, Opuntia Vulgaris Leaf Extract, Agave Tequilana Leaf Extract, Arnica Montana Flower Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Saccharomyces Cerevisiae (Yeast) Extract, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate], Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Squalane, Lactic Acid, PPG-12 / SMDI Copolymer, Propanediol, Butylene Glycol, Stearic Acid, Dimethicone, Cetearyl Alcohol, Phenyl Trimethicone, Disiloxane, Ceteareth-20, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Stearyl Glycyrrhetinate, Glycyrrhiza Glabra Root Extract, Cymbopogon Schoenanthus (Lemongrass) Oil, Potassium Hydroxide, Phenoxyethanol, Xanthan gum, Caprylyl Glycol, Chlorphenesin, Sodium Phytate.

9.  Supergoop PLAY Everyday Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50 PA++++

Supergoop PLAY Everyday Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50 PA++++

Price: $22 for 2.4oz

The Supergoop Play lotion is described as a fast absorbing, non-greasy, water resistant and broad-spectrum SPF 50 that can be used on the face and body. The texture is very fluid like and it doesn’t feel heavy on the skin. This is why I love using this sunscreen on my face more than body. On my skin the Play Lotion gives a nice subtle glow. I typically do not wear a moisturizer with it when applying it to my face as I feel that it’s moisturizing enough on its own.

This sunscreen has been in my routine for the past 2 years or so and I do have a few other reviews on it if you would like to check them out.

Ingredients: Avobenzone 3%, Homosalate 10%, Octisalate 5%, Octocrylene 7.5%, Water, Acrylates Copolymer, Diisopropyl Sebacate, Glycerin, Isodecyl Neopentanoate, Isododecane, Lauryl Lactate, Cetyl Alcohol, Potassium Cetyl Phosphate, Brassica Campestris/Aleurites Fordi Oil Copolymer, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Extract, Cetearyl Olivate, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Hydroxyacetophenone, Sorbitan Olivate, Diethylhexyl Syringylidenemalonate, Aniba Rosaeodora (Rosewood) Wood Oil, Chlorphenesin, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Peel Oil, Ethylhexylglycerin, Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil, Ocimum Basilicum (Basil) Flower/Leaf Extract, Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil, Pogostemon Cablin Oil, Pentylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Caprylyl Glycol, Xanthan Gum, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Extract, Behenic Acid, Cetyl Behenate, Isostearyl Isostearate, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Tocopherol, Allantoin, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Panthenol, Pentasodium Triphosphate, Citric Acid.

10. Dior Lip Glow Oil

Dior Lip Glow Oil

Price: $38
This has definitely been the year for lip oils and I have to say the Dior Lip Oils rank very high on my list! They are described as a non-sticky, non-greasy nurturing gloss that is formulated with cherry oil. I own the shades Mahogany and Rosewood. Both shades are vey sheer like all of the other Dior Lip Oils. I do think these are really on the high end side for a lip oil. Being that I own two, I do not see myself picking up any additional ones without finishing these first, I do love the level of shine they provide and my lips feel when wearing them.

Honorable Mention

Cerave Cream to Foam Cleanser

Cerave Cream to Foam Cleanser
Price: $15

The Cerave Cream to Foam Cleanser is aimed to remove make-up, dirt, oil and sunscreen all whilst being suitable for normal to dry skin types. As someone with normal to oily skin, I can say this can work for many skin types. As the cleanser states in its name, it starts as a cream and once water is introduced the texture transform into a beautifully soft foam texture. The cleanser is fragrance-free and formulated with 3 different types of ceramides, which is a great for helping to protect the barrier of the skin.

The Cream to Foam Cleanser has a pump, which dispenses the perfect amount of product for each application. This is typically a cleanser that I use as my second cleanser in my night routine. During over the summer I did enjoy using it in the morning as I would tend to wake up with my skin feeling oily. I love how well this cleanser cleanses my skin without stripping it and over-drying it. I really think this a great overall everyday type of cleanser for most skin types.
