Biossance Squalane + Peptide Eye Gel Review

I’ve been using the Biossance Squalane + Peptide Eye Gel for the past few months and I figured I would share my experience since I just finished the bottle. Biossance is known to be a clean at Sephora brand that incorporates Squalane into all of their products. Since learning about the benefits of Squalane (see previous post), it’s now an ingredient that I look for in my skincare products. The Biossance Squalane + Peptide Eye Gel is described as an eye gel that contains peptides to help reduce the look of puffiness and dark circles. This description really interested me to try out the formula.

If you’re interested in learning more about this unique formula, the breakdown of the ingredients and my thoughts on it, please keep reading!

First 5 ingredients Breakdown

It’s been said that the first 5 ingredients of a product makes up the bulk of the ingredients (up to 85%!) When researching products I tend to pay attention to these the most.

Water- moisture

Aloe- moisturize the skin and also prevent the appearance of wrinkles

Squalane- hydrating, soothing, non-irritating and non-comedogenic

Niacinamide- (pores and appearance) vitamin B3 and is a water-soluble vitamin that works with the natural substances in your skin to help visibly improve the appearance of enlarged pores, uneven skin tone, fine lines and wrinkles, dullness, and a weakened surface.

Glycerin- (moisture) is a natural, fatty substance that combats loss of elasticity, thinning, wrinkles, dark circles, puffiness, and dryness of the delicate skin in the eye area. Because glycerin can absorb water from the air, it helps bring moisture to the skin

Overall Review

I’ve tried a few samples of the Biossance eye gel over the course of the past year plus. I came across a 20% off promo code and finally purchased the full size back in February (of this year). The airless pump container contains 0.5oz of product. I typically used the eye gel once a day during my night time routine. The formula is light weight and absorbs into the skin very well. I noticed that if an eye cream is too heavy it doesn’t fully absorb and just sits on the top layer on the skin. With applying the eye serum I noticed that 1 pump was more than enough for both upper and under eye area. During my time of using it I never experienced any burning, tearing or sensitivity.

As I previously mentioned, Biossance Eye gel claims to reduce the look of puffiness and dark circles. These are claims that should be taken with a grain of salt- especially when discussing darkness around the eye area. In my honest opinion, I think an eye gel or cream can only do so much to brighten your area. Darkness under the eyes can be the results of various factors such as being fatigue, not sleeping enough, heredity (predisposing factors), age, eye strain, allergies, dehydration and even exposure from the sun. As for myself, I believe that I have a moderate level of darkness under my eyes that can easily be concealed with a light-medium coverage concealer.

In my experience of using the Biossance eye gel I do believe it helped with puffiness. Even with using it at night, I felt that it helped my under eyes to not appear puffy during the morning. I really can’t attest to the formula doing much for the darkness under my eyes. On some occasions I did use the eye gel in the morning prior to applying my under eye concealer. I like that the formula provided a nice moisturized base and made my concealer application look great. With eye creams it’s not a product that you will see full results overnight. A good eye cream is made with good ingredients or at least ingredients targeted to help your particular problem.

I do think the eye gel was great at hydrating the under eye area. I think it’s a great preventative product. I can’t say how much it can do reverse the signs of aging under the eye. I enjoyed using it and I think it lasted a decent amount of time for the size. However, I find the $54 price tag on the higher side but definitely not the most expensive that I’ve seen. Based on the results that I experienced while using it, I don’t think this is worth the $54 price. However, Biossance is known to have deals frequently through their site. From time to time they often make kits that include the eye gel. If I’m able to get the eye in a kit or with a savings code, I would definitely repurchase it.

Tips: Trying putting it in the fridge and applying it to the eye area cool
